Nigerian union South Africa, NUSA, was formed in 2008 and the first congress was conducted under the guardianship of former Consul General, Amb. Sanni Muhammad. In that congress the first National Executive Officers of Nigeria Union South Africa was elected. Since that congress of 2008 NUSA has held several congresses across different provinces in SA.
Nigerian Union South Africa is the umbrella body of all Nigerian Organisations, associations and unions. She is the only organisation in South Africa that accommodates all Nigerians and their legitimate spouses. NUSA is a classless organisation where only democracy takes precedence. We have functional wards and nine provincial chapters. At the National Congress, the highest decision making organ of the union, delegates elected from nine provinces of SA are empowered to make decisions for the union that will be of benefits to Nigerians in South Africa and elect the National officers of the union. The National Congress holds once a year unless in a case of emergency congress. So NUSA is the only organisation that has the mandate of all Nigerians in South Africa.
Our core mandate is welfare of Nigerians in South Africa and image re-branding of Nigeria. Our strategy so far is to always respond to issues of brutality and police molestation against Nigerians.
